PLEASE do not buy Bremshey-. I have just bought a Bremshey Orbit Control 16" from another company. I completely agree with the lack of instructions - tiny drawings to follow, no text instructions, no exploded views and I had to download an addendum from the website before being able to put one part together. The left footplate was out of alignment and was only able to be fixed when we (yes my step son and I) drilled a hole in the plate to widen the hole. So far in the four weeks since assembly was completed I have had a loud clunk on the left side which on the instructions of Bremshey I then had to take the machine apart and re grease which has dampened but not cured the problem entirely and a squeak that an engineer has been out to fix and made worse .

Aside from this, the pre set programs are boring compared to my old Kettler. Goodness knows what else awaits me .This is a well named machine -it's trained me to be cross ...

I think this cross-trainer is excellent value for money. Exceptionally sturdy and well built, with a variety of training programmes. One small criticism: it is delivered in a large and very heavy cardboard pack, and must then be self-assembled. Unpacking it and assembling it without the aid of a second person is difficult, and the diagrams are rather small and tricky to follow. In fact, it's rather easy to be left with a handful of spare washers. But I'm very glad I chose it.

A real let down, 29 July 2008

This has never worked properly since we bought it - at full price! As previously highighted, self assembly is an issue considering the size and weight of the cross-trainer. Operating problems have persisted despite a new control panel, and even an electrician checking that we had wired up the connections properly! Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't which makes doing a proper workout impossible. After the guarantee expired, Bremshey did nothing. We are now left with an expensive cross-trrainer we can't use for more than a few minutes. Avoid this one and save yourself a lot of hassle.

So happy with this purchase! Was delivered promptly as always by Amazon, and due to an error of mine I had to contact customer service....and I have to say, other than Virgin, this company has the most amazing customer service I've experienced! Made everything easier for me.

Anyway...... once delivered, the cross trainer was a bit of a beast to get out of the box. Very, very heavy and awkward. So if you have a man.... ideally bribe him to do it :) haha. Took me aaaaaages to assemble. Instructions aren't amazing...but got there eventually. Once set up, the cross trainer is large enough to be sturdy, but not the largest cross trainer I've owned ( I've owned and worn out a fair few!) , it doesn't look ugly in the room like some. Nice modern design.

The motion of the trainer is so so smooth. No impact whatsoever to your joints and is a pleasure to use. The console works as its supposed to, has all the functions I need, and is a nice size. Haven't tried out the pulse monitor thingy yet though, and probably won't bother with that. The foot pedals are a nice size... and sturdy, and the handle bars are comfortable and a good height. I found after the second use the noise from the cross trainer was unbearable though.....loud LOUD squeaking! I was at my wits end tightening and oiling this and that. But after THOROUGHLY tightening the 2 screws (with the allen key) on the horizontal bar that rests on the floor where it actually joins the trainer, it is completely silent. Even after a couple months of using it twice a day.

This is the best cross trainer I've ever used in my home. Love it. Cannot stress enough though.....TIGHTEN THOSE SCREWS ON THE BASE!!! Because before I did it was so noisy it was almost unuseable. Now its amazing

Buy this instead of a cheapy one....you won't regret it!

Excellent delivery arrangements by Amazon: advance notice of date of delivery and then another phone call some 15 mins before the delivery of this big cardboard box was due to take place.
No complaints about the packaging, nor the quality/look of the product, but once all components were out of the box, the assembly instructions (found inside a bulky book in several languages) were in the form of a few very detailed but absolutely miniscule drawings. The nuts and bols are clearly labelled and packed onto a sealed piece of cardboard, which would be fine, if you could only see where they were supposed to go without using a microscope.
It would also help if the actual large parts were coded.
The separately packed computer has several cables which worryingly need to be connected to the main body of the trainer with very little clarification of which cable goes where.(could certainly do with some colour coding!)
Therefore it certainly took time (all in all probably 3 hrs)and the utmost attention to assemble and due to the weight of certain parts needed a second person in the vicinity to help with lifting/holding etc.
Also be careful to really really tighten the upright/vertical section as much as possible otherwise the trainer will creak terribly during the first few sessions.

Having overcome these obstacles: We are really happy with it! It is a lovely piece of training equipment and looks smart and professional. It has already been used intensively by the 4 adults in our family (aged 58, 51, 23 and 19). It is quiet, smooth, easy to operate and with a resistance level from 1 to 8 gives everyone a good workout at their own level. We have parked it in our spare downstairs room, where we can watch television and/or listen to music whilst we work out. This is certainly more enjoyable and social than having to leave home and go on a 20 mins journey to work out in the gym @ a £ 24 per month charge.

Firstly we were told on 30th jan the product would have a 3- 7 day delivery time - it arrived 28th February. I would have purchased elsewhere if i had known that earlier even if the cost had been a little more
When it arrived all the pices were there but the instructions were only in Danish. This was okay for the majority of the time and it took about 1.5 hours to put together.
However, there was a problem at the end of the process with the maual resistance, the pictures and the actual equipment were not the same. Not understanding danish did not help here. It appeared that the dial did not fit on the stem of the trainer as though it was the wrong model.
We had a choice, complain and return the item or improvise (the hole was in the wrong place) we chose to improvise. WE could not be bothered to take apart and start the wole process again
The product is fine and works
you get what you pay for

Had it delivered on time, instructions were stupidly confusing, and starting the assembly was great up until the 3rd step when we tried to put the foot plates on. The diagram showed what we needed, but, unlike all the other diagrams, these parts were not labelled. Unable to find these parts in the entire kit, so decided instead of undoing everything up until that point, decided to work around it and pay afew extra quid to buy extras. AND THEN one of the screws fell into the x-trainer, due to gap underneath where we were trying to put it in, and we were unable to retrieve it without destroying thw whole thing. So again, will have to order more, because there are no spares allowing for mistakes. I'm left with a half-completed piece of equipment and very stressed. to be honest, though not ideal for me, buying a gym membership would have been alot easier, or buying second-hand, when they're already assembled.
Poor quality, poor instructions, and though it tells you the item description of what you need to buy should you need anything else, it does not tell you where to order it. Very poor and disappointing.

Ordered the Confidence Rowing Machine, which promtly arrived quickly from Amazon. Opened the box and found it very easy to put together, all the components well laid and easy to follow instructions-so far so good. This is where it starts to go wrong. Now I am not the fittest guy you will ever see (hence ordered the Rower), but the only problem is there isn't a resistence dial on the machine. You know how it is, you start off easy then increase the resistence a few days/ weeks later. This function is not installed on the Rower. Having used the machine a few times now if it did have a resistence dial I would say it would be about 4 out of ten on a dial, so using it for about 15 mins a day for a few days this is where I would want to turn the dial to make it harder to Row, but as I say this is not an option.
So good Rower but could be better

Eroded after 6 weeks...., 4 Oct 2011

I bought this 6 weeks ago...

At first I was impressed with it. It arrived promptly by Amazon the next day after ordering, it was easy to put to together and at first use appeared to be a tidy and neat little machine that did it's job. You can tell straight away it's not the best quality but, afterall, you get what you paid for, and what I paid for it.... it was decent. Now I dont row excessively but neither am I a lightweight. I used it daily for around 1-1.5 hours. After 6 weeks I noticed the rowing movement back and forth wasn't very smooth as it was, then the next day if felt like it was 'grinding', after looking down I noticed black bits of rubber on the floor, coming from under the seat. I took the seat off and already the rollers that the seat moves up and down on the poles was disintergrating.... the rubber was just wearing away. I used it for a few more days, expecting this to be the thing that finally broke it but then the rubber tubing that the handles are on just snapped in half.. After closer inspection inside the body where the rubber handles disappear into when you 'row forward', the rubber again... completely disintergrated.

Even though, on first outlook, the machine looks nice and sterdy... it's very poorly made and you won't get much use out of it unless you're a '1 hour a month' person in which case the upper bullet point of "Sturdy construction for years of use" might just apply :)

Don't buy this... splash out just a little bit more and get another one!
